National Resource Directory
The National Resource Directory (NRD) is a powerful online tool offering more than 10,000 resources for wounded, ill and injured Service Members, Veterans, their families and caregivers. It provides quick and easy access to programs and services at the national, state and local levels that support recovery, rehabilitation and community reintegration for our nation's wounded warriors.
Launched in 2008 through a partnership among the U.S. Departments of Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs, the NRD is one component of a larger effort to improve wounded warrior care coordination and to provide access to information on services and resources – key goals identified by both the President's Commission on Care for America's Returning Wounded Warriors (Dole-Shalala Commission) and the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act.
Concepts handles content development, quality assurance and overall management for the NRD, which is updated daily. Recent upgrades to the site include a robust search engine, a rotating news feature, interactive social media tools and e-mail alerts. The site's content offers information across nine subject areas: benefits and compensation; education and training; employment; family and caregiver support; health; homeless assistance; housing; transportation and travel; and other services and resources. Its cross-cutting resources represent federal, state and local governmental agencies; Veterans service and benefit organizations; non-profit and community-based organizations; academic institutions and professional associations that provide assistance to wounded warriors and their families.
