Carolyn Veneri

Carolyn Veneri brings more than 13 years of federal government service and experience to Concepts, Inc. Her areas of expertise include labor market analysis, employment-related research and disability employment policy.

Currently, Carolyn supports the National Resource Directory, a Web site developed by the U.S. Departments of Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs that provides access to services and resources for wounded, ill and injured Service Members, Veterans and their families, as well as the federal interagency Web site Disability.gov. She also oversees Concepts’ support of the Employer Assistance & Resource Network (EARN), which provides employers with free consulting services and resources to support the recruitment and hiring of people with disabilities.

Prior to joining the Concepts team, Carolyn served for more than four years as a Senior Policy Advisor for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, where she analyzed national disability employment policy and programs and developed policy recommendations to increase the workforce participation of people with disabilities. While there, she designed and conducted research on a wide variety of disability and employment issues, developed technical assistance materials for private and public sector employers, and facilitated working partnerships with a number of federal agencies, nonprofit organizations and private sector companies.

From 1994-2003, Carolyn served as an economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, where she researched and wrote about labor force trends and workforce development issues. While there, she developed long-term industry and occupational employment projections, researched workforce issues such as occupational shortages and trends in education and training, and wrote for a variety of nationally circulated publications, including the Occupational Outlook Handbook, Career Guide to Industries, Occupational Outlook Quarterly and Monthly Labor Review.

Carolyn holds an M.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. in International Relations from Boston University. She also studied high-tech workforce development in Portugal as a Fulbright fellow.
