Kathy Brannigan
Kathy Brannigan is a seasoned communications consultant with more than 17 years of experience in developing strategic and intelligent public relations plans for business-to-business, government and nonprofit, technology, sustainability, consumer and other industries. Her expertise includes substantial experience in media relations, strategic brand development, equity building, advocacy, social media and marketing communications.
Kathy works on several initiatives focused on improving employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, such as Disability.gov and the National Resource Directory. Her responsibilities include developing media strategies for traditional and new media, media outreach, collateral materials creation and website development. She has also supported photo projects, profiling people with disabilities in their careers, for the Job Accommodation Network and U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy.
Prior to joining Concepts, Kathy was the senior director of global communications for the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) in Alexandria, Virginia, where she was responsible for managing the daily operations, implementation and integration of ACTE's global communications and advocacy strategies. During her tenure, she developed a public relations plan that identified the key issues affecting the international business travel industry and branded the association as the go-to source for commentary. This resulted in unprecedented media coverage for the association, both nationally and globally, in print, radio and broadcast.
Before moving to Washington, D.C. in November 2007, Kathy was the vice president of public relations for Greystone Partners in upstate New York, where she oversaw all public relations communications strategies for clients of the boutique full-service public relations and advertising agency. In this capacity, she conceived and implemented innovative communications programs to increase brand awareness with consumers and enhance the corporate image of high-profile organizations such as Walt Disney, OSRAM SYLVANIA, NASCAR and the Jamestown 400th Commemoration Commission.
Prior to that, Kathy spent 10 years in Manhattan, working as a senior editor for Fairchild Publications. She was also the associate public relations director for Cotton Incorporated (The Fabric of Our Lives), providing marketing communications and public relations services for the quasi-governmental not-for-profit national and international marketing and research trade organization reporting to the USDA.
Kathy lived in Caracas, Venezuela from 1993-1996, where she was an international journalist reporting on the oil industry and the global business community for the Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce.
Kathy holds a B. A. in English and journalism from SUNY College at Cortland. She is a member of the National Press Club.
